Assemblyman Don Guardian

Don Guardian is serving in his second-term as a member of the New Jersey Assembly, representing the shore towns, mainland suburbs, and Pinelands communities of Atlantic County.

Don was born the son of Croatian immigrants and raised in Hudson and Bergen County. An Eagle Scout, he has always maintained a passion for community service and civic engagement.

After graduating from Upsala College in 1975, Don worked for fifteen years as an executive with the Boy Scouts. His success with the Boy Scouts sent him across New Jersey from Ocean County to Morris County and later Atlantic City. There, he began as an executive with the Claridge Casino and, for the following twenty years, ran the city’s Special Improvement District (SID).

Against all odds, Don was elected Mayor of Atlantic City in 2013, becoming the first Republican Party nominee to win the mayor’s office since Prohibition. While working to keep the city financially afloat and fighting against a state takeover, Don still delivered on promises to cut wasteful spending, trim bloated government, and diversify the local economy.

After his time as mayor, Don served as the business administrator for Toms River. In November 2021, Don was elected to the Assembly from New Jersey’s Second Legislative District. He serves on two committees: Tourism, Gaming & the Arts and Labor. Don resides in Atlantic City’s Northeast Inlet with his husband, Louis Fatato.

Assemblywoman Claire Swift

Assemblywoman Claire Swift was initially sworn in in January 2022 and again in January 2024 as her second term in the NJ State Assembly. Claire currently serves on the Labor and State and Local Government Committees.  In her prior term, she served on the Labor, Law and Public Safety and the Human Services Committee.  Claire’s legislative focus encompasses crucial areas such as law and public safety, helping working families, student loan protection, helping small businesses and skilled labor.

Claire is also a small-business owner and managing partner at Swift Law Firm, LLC, located in Northfield, New Jersey, a business she owns and operates with her brothers.  Her practice supports and defends families during the entire legal process throughout Atlantic and Cape May Counties. Previously, Claire clerked in Atlantic City for the Honorable Michael Winkelstein, the Assignment Judge for the Atlantic/Cape May County Vicinages. Prior to entering private practice, Claire was sworn in as a New Jersey Deputy Attorney General and represented the Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS, now known as DCPP) in Atlantic County.

Graduating Atlantic City High School in 1992, Claire went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996, and her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Widener University Law School in 1999.  In 1994, Claire spent a semester studying abroad at the Business Institute (ICADE) in Madrid, Spain.

Claire’s dedication to the community extends beyond her legislative duties.  She is a member of the Atlantic County Bar Association, New Jersey Board of Bar Examiner Committee on Character and Fitness, Atlantic County Board of Realtors, Jewish Federation of Atlantic & Cape May Counties, Katz JCC Early Childhood Committee, Stockton’s Woman’s Leadership Council, the Atlantic County Chamber of Commerce, the Margate Republican Club and the Atlantic County Federation of Republican Women.

In 2022, Claire was awarded the Woman of the Year award by the New Jersey State Republican Committee.  In 2023, Claire was awarded the Lincoln award by the Atlantic County Federation for Republican Woman Committee.

Claire resides in Margate with her husband, John, and their three children, Jack (14), Anthony (12), and Claire (12). Remarkably, she lives on the same street where she grew up, surrounded by the memories of her childhood and the support of her late father, a single parent who raised Claire and her seven siblings.
